Activism
True to its name, Reporters Club Nepal (RCN) has lived up to the expectation of the members of the press insofar as it has been consistently throwing together newsmakers and journalists under one roof. One can say, an interaction session on the burning issue of the day is always going on during the appointed time.
Here is what Rishi Dhamala, who has been at the helm of affairs so far, had to offer when asked: Why do you burn out yourself day in day out bringing together members of the press and often evasive political actors? "I wish there was no night so that I could go on and on bringing together people so that they debate the burning issues."
This paints the picture of what goes on at the RCN every day. The day starts at early in the morning, with deputed person calling up journalists covering the beat while Dhamala chases the potential speakers to have them amid the journalists later in the day. The speakers are invariably people who are in the news for both good and bad reasons and obliged to speak out and shed light on the issues involved.
Needless to say, RCN hosts interaction sessions on the burning issue of the day cutting across politics, economy, constitution, foreign policy (foreign and UN diplomats grace functions), human rights, employment scenario, social sector, community issues, media, gender relations, police and army excesses, child rights, women's rights and so on and so forth.
